Volante Global Announces the launch of Volante Singapore

London / Singapore, 1 June 2023 – Volante Global, a multi-class, multi-territory international MGA & Lloyd’s Syndicate that combines best-in-class underwriting powered by data-driven business processes deployed through a strategic platform, has announced the launch of Volante Singapore.

Volante Singapore will offer (re)insurance solutions across Asia Pacific, Greater China, Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Japan through Volante’s own A-rated Lloyd’s Syndicate 1699 managed by Asta Managing Agency. Asta’s service company, set up on the Lloyd’s Asia platform in Singapore in March this year, supports Volante with underwriting oversight and regulatory compliance services.

The focus for Volante Singapore’s reinsurance offering will initially be Property, Engineering, Motor, Accident and Casualty, Marine, Multiline Bouquet across Treaty, Facultative, binder and facility business. In addition, Volante Singapore will offer transaction liability solutions through Volante Transaction Services that shall include warranty and indemnity and tax liability insurance.

Volante Singapore will be led by Amy Fu.  Amy started her career with Swiss Re and has worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, and London. She went on to build an International Marine portfolio at Syndicate 1980 in London. Amy moved to Singapore in 2017 to lead the distribution strategy and stakeholder engagement for Lloyd’s Asia. Most recently she was a company director and board member of BMS Singapore. Amy is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds an MBA from Imperial College London.

Volante Singapore will be a valued platform used by the Volante Emerging Markets division of Volante Global, which has been operating since 2019 focusing exclusively on high growth and emerging markets. The division is jointly led by Bilal Zafar and Bobby Swarup and in a joint statement they commented: “We are excited to bring Lloyd’s capacity to the reinsurance market in the region. Volante Singapore will also host the regional offering of Volante Transaction Services, the transaction liability solutions offering of Volante Global. Daniel Thieviasingham, a specialist transaction liability underwriter, will be based with Volante Singapore to offer locally underwritten solutions to the mergers & acquisitions market in the region. Daniel brings over 10 years’ M&A experience and has worked in a number of roles within transactional liability including most recently for Berkshire Hathaway Speciality Insurance. Prior to that, Daniel spent two years in London as a transactional risk broker for Lockton and before that was a transaction liability underwriter in Ironshore’s (now Liberty GTS) Sydney office where he focused on transactions across the Asia-Pacific region.

Volante Transaction Services is led by Martin Larkman, its Global Head, who commented that “having already announced the appointments of the Steven Harwood (Managing Director VTS APAC) and Shaun Reynolds (Managing Director – ANZ) in the region, this news further strengthens Volante Transaction Services’ commitment to the region and offering in market solutions to our valued partners and stakeholders”.

With the addition of our Lloyd’s Asia platform, we can access a fantastic marketplace which offers a wealth of profitable underwriting opportunity. Through our highly experienced team we will offer the Asian market a multi-class solution with our Property, Casualty, Marine, and Transaction Liability offering ranging from cedants to commercial retail clients. Volante Singapore has received regulatory approval as of 1 January 2023 and is actively trading.
