The MGA of the Year award was one of the most highly contested categories on the night. However, our ability to combine exceptional underwriting talent with market-advancing technology in a way that advances the MGA model helped us secure top spot.
For Talbir Bains, CEO and Founder of Volante Global, the award was hard earned but well deserved. “This is a fantastic recognition of the exceptional dedication of every member of the Volante team,” he said. “Since launching in October 2017, we’ve achieved considerable growth in a relatively short period, establishing an international platform with 13 underwriting teams operating across eight distinct business classes.

From day one, our aim at Volante was to rebalance the MGA-Carrier relationship, creating total financial and cultural alignment to the underwriting model of our capacity providers, with Carriers making ultimate pricing, coverage and reserving decisions. This focus has helped us secure long-term capacity partnerships built on complete strategic alignment and operating a framework that optimises Carrier COR.
While we have worked to reinvigorate the MGA model, at our core, we remain true to the founding principles of the structure – delivering underwriting profit to and operating as a division of our capacity providers, with our success intrinsically linked to that of our Carriers.
