Horizon Europe AG is an MGA established to operate within the European property sector. From its Zurich headquarters, Horizon aims to become a local underwriting partner for both Clients and Brokers across Europe, establishing a diverse and balanced property portfolio of business.
Led by Eric Gutierrez, Horizon will focus solely and exclusively on property reinsurance treaty at launch, the company will offer extensive capacity across property catastrophe XL and property catastrophe aggregate XL.
Launching from the financially robust platform Volante enables Horizon to offer diversification broader than a single carrier, helping ensure greater relevance to brokers and clients, and where appropriate secure its position as a preferred partner.
Horizon further capitalises on the extensive group infrastructure, which ensures full administrative and underwriting compliance support from the outset and extends the client capabilities of the company from the initial transaction through to post-bind client service including claims handling and resolution.

Arnaud has over 20 years of actuarial experience in the reinsurance sector, having held numerous senior roles.
Prior to joining Horizon, he was Chief Actuary for Europe at Canopius Europe, responsible for pricing, price monitoring, reserving and planning. He was also Chief Actuary across ACE Insurance Switzerland, ACE Reinsurance Switzerland and ACE Tempest Re Zurich. He began his actuarial career at Partner Re in 1999 and also worked for XL Re Europe.

Brian has an extensive knowledge of the European property reinsurance market, with over 17 years of underwriting experience in the sector.
Prior to joining the Horizon team, he was Senior Treaty Underwriter and Deputy Head at Aspen Re Europe working across the European property sector. Before this, he was a Senior Treaty Underwriter for Continental Europe at Sompo Canopius Re. He began his underwriting career at Ace Tempest Re in 2002.

Eric has over 25 years of reinsurance market experience, spanning both the underwriting and broking arenas. Most recently, he was CEO, European Reinsurance at Sompo Canopius Re (formerly Canopius Europe) from 2011 to 2017. Prior to this, he worked at Ace Tempest Re Europe and Ace Reinsurance Switzerland for 9 years, becoming Head of Continental Europe. He has also held roles at XL Re Europe, Groupe Walbaum and MCR.
