In Orbit

In-Orbit failures, whether due to technical faults or human error, are a constant risk factor.

Our In-Orbit (IO) insurance provides protection in the event of a loss of performance of a satellite in orbit. The coverage responds in situations including the failure or degradation of on-board equipment, loss of fuel, damage caused by operational error or collisions with foreign objects, and policies reflect our technical knowledge of the various applications involved and the associated risks.

The cover applies after the satellite has separated from its launch vehicle and ends at the end of nominal life. In instances where sufficient data is available, we can provide policies for vehicles operated past their design lifetime.

Our IO cover is often packaged with a Combined Flight (CF) programme with In-Orbit Launch Vehicle Flight Only (LVFO) insurance.
